Kay Pick Zivkovich - Sens inspirés (Inspired senses)

The body of work represented in "Figure Ground Relationships" are monoprints. The monoprint has become known as the "painterly print". These prints are one-of-a-kind original works created with archival inks on acid-free Somerset paper. Images are painted on a blank zinc etching plate using the additive or subtractive monoprint technique, and this image covered with paper is run through an etching press.

Eugene Boudin, one of Monet's teachers, is always a great source of inspiration. The use of spontaneous color brings freshness and immediacy to the vistas. It is this strength that accentuates nature providing a vivid and direct perception that allows for interactions between the viewer and the surrounding natural world. Feel free to explore these spacious places and give your interpretation of nature a sense of place.

Cortney Boyd - Red Cliffs

"Delicate Ground" Line has always been an essential element in my work as an artist in all media I pursue.  This body of work stems from an experiment that was suggested by a friend and fellow artist of creating a line in kilnformed glass that becomes more varied and expressive. These lines become the accent in the works of glass that are composed of patterns of straight lines.

The variability of the accentuated line in these glass pieces references a body of inkless intaglio prints I was making in 2001 that emphasized line as an implied landscape.  In these glass pieces, the fluidity of the varied lines references waterscapes and horizon lines in a landscape. The patterns seen in the rest of the piece are influenced by domestic patterns seen in wallpaper or fabric – the landscape of our homes. In my artwork I am interested in the subtle variations to patterns and how they can establish connections with familiar patterns, memories and the viewer.
