"Where the Wild Things Are" is a grouping of glass sculptures by Robin and Julia Rogers. Some of the pieces in the exhibit are collaborations between the two, while others are creations from each, individually. In this body of work, both Julia and Robin draw upon imagery from the animal kingdom and make reference to the fantastic and supernatural. Each object has been sculpted by hand with molten clear and colored glass.

Striped Leaves I

John Dyess - Striped Leaves #I

"Highlights in Shadows" This series of paintings started with a photograph I took of colorful plant leaves at a highway rest stop. I was intrigued by the shapes created from the cast shadows. I wanted to explore this further and started photographing other plants, fruits and vegetables with direct lighting resulting in interesting shadow formation. Using these photos as reference for a new group of paintings, I focused on the design created by highlights and shadows appearing on and around the organic items. The majority were painted in oil on canvas. The others were done in watercolor and pen and ink. I studied the actual object, for instance the pineapple, while painting, to enhance surface detail and texture.
