Kay M. Pick Zivkovich - Fish Fortune

I have always been inspired and stimulated by nature. Traditionally my artwork has focused primarily on landscape images allowing the viewer to interpret a sense of place. During a recent sabbatical I had the opportunity to continue my printmaking research but with an interest on different subjects.

"Art Summery" is a collection of work focusing on the subject of fish. The Japanese print places much emphasis on two-dimensional, bold foreshortening, sensitive line, color, texture and composition. Many contemporary Japanese artists use the ukiyo-e ("Floating world" )printing technique in their work. My intention was to adopt this style using the monotype printing process.

Why fish? The symbolic meaning of fish or the permission to be playful with a sense of innocence is reason enough. Knowing how persistent, strong and colorful fish are can simply rejuvenate our creative sense and human persistence.

These prints are one-of-a-kind painterly prints created with archival inks on acid free printmaking paper. Likewise they are archaically framed.

Feel free to capture the energy and feel rejuvenated this summer!

Cortney Boyd - Rubber Duckies

This recent work showcases some of my favorite toys from childhood. Certain toys were my everyday companions such as the stuffed animals that accompanied me from my crib and beyond. Other objects are representations of little things that I played with frequently, like rubber ducks and Silly Putty. The fragility and luminousness of glass materializes delicate memories of youth and play through the recreation of toys that I loved as a child.
