"Landscape/Citysape V"

Mark Hurd
digital art renderings

I am drawn to bright saturated colors, whether they be a brilliant neon red sign against the dark of an inner city wall, or the infinite shades of green as sunlights passes through the leaves of an ancient tree late in the afternoon. I love to be outside either in nature or an urban setting usually in the early morning or dusk with my camera, taking many photos . This unique technique combines my photography, drawing and coloring individual shapes and layering those shapes digitally.

"Short Stories or Bodies and Souls"

James F. Wilson
oils and watercolors

The oils and watercolors in this exhibit—derived from Jim Wilson’s dreams, impressions and experiences in Missouri—explore gravity and flight. Through his use of vibrant color, oversized birds or birds in flight, and an active, familiar story line, Wilson draws viewers into a world of believable possibilities where their imaginations can take over. His artistic touch and sensibility paint a story that is at once curious, hopeful and engaging.

"Restaurants of St. Louis"

Marilynne Bradley
watercolors

Ms. Bradley’s interest in the world around her is reflected in her paintings of St. Louis restaurants. The experience of eating well and the sociability of restaurant dining come to life in a burst of excitement and drama in these watercolors. Each image explores the subject from a different viewpoint, communicating a unique personal statement.

"Faces of Missouri"

Dave Marlow
photography

The film and digital photographic works in Dave Marlow’s exhibit span a period of 35 years and display Dave’s artistic sensibility and talent for composition. Among the more recent photographs in the exhibit are “The Science Center, Forest Park,” “Old Kimmswick Post Office” and “Union Station Abstraction.” Visitors to the exhibit will also see photographs capturing other popular sites in the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and nearby cities in Missouri, along with a photo of a young, charismatic Mick Jagger performing at Kiel Auditorium.

"Teapot Tempest"

David Andrew Midkiff
glazed stoneware

This exhibit is an exploration of the teapot’s sculptural and surface possibilities. The elements of color, pattern, shape, and proportion are manipulated to emphasize the aesthetic as well as the functional qualities of the teapot.

"Liquid Objectivity"

Trish Heiser
mixed, prints

Inspired by nature and landscape, Trish—an artist, therapist and educator—creates unique works of 3D art by applying liquid metals to paper. The striking work below is among the pieces in Trish’s exhibit.

Tree Ribbons

"Tree Ribbons"

Eleanor D. W. Ruder
ink on rice paper

I love and never cease to find inspiration in trees—the focal point of all of the works in this exhibit. In these sumi-e paintings, I strive to capture the grace and tenacity of these life-affirming symbols. I am pleased to share the joy I feel in interpreting this centuries-old art form.

"Contained Spaces"

Clinton L. Berry
clay

True to the artist’s interest in creating objects that are both artistic and functional, this exhibit includes pitchers, vases ginger jars, and lidded serving dishes. The rich glazes are in a wide range of hues, contributing to the aesthetics of the pieces.

"Forest Revisited"

Stephanie J. Witte
gourds with mixed media

Inspired to create the works in this exhibit by two of her favorite authors: Longfellow, who wrote, "This is the forest primeval . . . it stands like Druids of old. . .," and John Muir, who wrote, "The closest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness." Like forests in nature, which provide a haven and inspiration for man and beast, the whimsical forest of sculptures in this exhibit is intended to encourage and inspire curious observers who journey through and around it.

"Nature's Expressions"

John Lautermilch
oil piantings and photography

Common to all of the works in this exhibit is the spirituality that John communicates so effectively in his oils and photography. True to his artist statement, the works showcase his fascination with light and color.

"Echoes of Old Earth"

Christopher Lynch
mixed media boxes and ink with watercolor drawings

The forms these objects can take are limitless. In primitive cultures, these objects are painstakingly constructed with a real purpose; function is more imporant than mere ornamentation - which I find very exciting.

"Recent Pieces"

Sim Gellman
oils and oil pastels

Stan Gellman
mixed media

The works in this joint show would seem to be related solely by the fact that the two artists who created them have been married to each other for over 50 years.

"Outside the Hearts"

Kay M. Pick Zivkovich
prints and drawings

A collection of line drawings and prints that focus on the figure. The visual language presents a sensuous and romantic moment appropriate to send a message to that someone special, including at this Valentine season.

"holding turnips"

mj rigby

acrylic on glass

Holding turnips decodes to captured time. This series is a continuation in the effort to encapsulate a moment in time, a fraction of a second where an event gets etched into my mind.
