"Little World Fantasy"

Michael Frank

acrylic & oil

and

"Radiance"

Steve L. Gorman

ceramic sculpture
Michael Frank has included his representational luminous paintings of landscapes and seascapesworks from his two series of fantasy paintings. The first, which he has dubbed the Little World Fantasy Series, depicts birds, turtles, toadstools and fish against a mysterious fairy tale like setting of forest brooks and water falls. His Forest Never Sleeps Fantasy Series depicts small creature life in the forest, with a night sky and full moon backdrop.

Working in the 21st century allows Steve L. Gorman to break from the norms of tradition. He have combined his love of painting with his joy of sculpting. Steve strives to bring unity in form, color, movement, and concept to each piece. A sensuousness and ambiguity are key factors in the work. Obsessive craftsmanship results in a “finish fetish” and the use of an airbrush for color application enhances the surreal appearance of the work.

"Taisho Era Interpretations"

Cynthia Boxerman

slumped glass
In the wall hangings that he creates from welded steel rod, Barrett DeBusk expresses his ability to capture a mood with simple lines and his unique sense of humor. His satirical look at life combined with a natural ability to create has given form to an incredible body of work that began in the early 1990s. “It’s my way of drawing,” DeBusk says. “I use torch and steel instead of pencil and paper.” Visitors to “DeBusk Returns” will understand why DeBusk’s clients include Michael Jordan and Jerry Seinfeld, and his artistic creations are in the White House and in other collections worldwide.

Cynthia Krock Boxerman applies her formal training in glass pattern making, glass cutting and stained glass window construction to the brilliantly hued, often embellished pieces of glass that she creates. Each of her glass pieces starts as a sketch, which she develops into a pattern from which she cuts the glass. Boxerman combines a love of history and reverence of nature to create beautiful pieces of artistic, collectible glass.

"Unbound Layers"

Kay M. Pick Zivkovich

monoprint
and
Cortney Boyd & Nate Steinbrink
glass and wood
Although this exhibit features three very different media—monoprints, glass and wood—layers, which are common to all three, are the unifying exhibit theme. Through their medium of choice, each of these talented artists shares a view of the natural world, with its abundant and unbound layers of air, land, trees, rocks and sediment. Gathered together in this exhibit, the individual works of art both complement and enhance each other. The whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

"Landscape/Cityscape V"

Mark Hurd
digital art renderings
I am drawn to bright saturated colors, whether they be a brilliant neon red sign against the dark of an inner city wall, or the infinite shades of green as sunlight passes through the leaves of an ancient tree late in the afternoon. I love to be outside either in nature or an urban setting usually in the early morning or dusk with my camera, taking many photos . This unique technique combines my photography, drawing and coloring individual shapes and layering those shapes digitally.
