About

Larry Frederick is the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer at The University of Missouri, Saint Louis. Prior to this position, Larry worked in Information Technology at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, Vanderbilt University in Nashville and Emory University in Atlanta.

Larry holds a Masters of Physics from Florida Atlantic University. He built his first relay-driven computer in high school, winning the State Science Fair and leading to a life-long love of mechanical-electrical devices and computer technology.  He became an expert in graphics for the visual display of data and eventually formed a company that sold graphical interface software he created to research institutions around the world.

An avid collector, Larry collects original art, from 1970’s oil paintings to 18th century engravings.  He collects natural art from the world of minerals. He restores antique technology from the time when function and design were equally important.

His interest in the visual arts, collecting material and electrical circuits have now combined to produce a unique line of art lamps in styles varying from New-Wave to Steampunk. While living in California, his one-of-a-kind lamps were shown in the Tidewater Gallery and the Goodwin Gallery in Stockton and frequently appeared in art fairs across Northern California.

Constructing lamps from recycled materials, Larry was featured as a “green artist” in the February 2010 issue of San Joaquin Lifestyles Magazine. Since moving to Saint Louis, his work can be found in the Componere Gallery of Art and Fashion.
