Artist's Statement

My true intent is to capture the magnificence of nature in combination with man-made grandeur. I am influenced by the pop art of Warhol and mood of Hopper. I have also admired the paintings of my first drawing teacher Bill Kohn. He used vivid, brightly painted architectural planes in many of his works. I would like to work more abstractly over time, distilling landscapes, people and architecture to their true essence.

About

Mark was born in 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in St. Charles, Missouri. He received his BFA in Graphic Communication from Washington University in 1987.

Mark lives in Affton with his two children, Ian, 15 and Emily, 13 and 2 cats, Dakota and Bear.
