Unbound Layers Cortney Boyd and Nate Steinbrink, Compônere, February 2012

Originally met at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. They both went on to study glass at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and pursue careers in the arts. Recently Nate has been working in wood and when the suggestion of a combined exhibition was presented it seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine Nate's woodwork with Cortney's glass. The idea of layers fits well into this combination of media. The wood has inherent layers and glass can enhance the layers visually and add a layer of content with its properties of translucency and the ability to alter light.
