SIUC Glass Program
James Weiler
Mr. Weiler is a professor in the Glassblowing Department at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
The program has been in existence for over 30 years and was founded by glass artist Bill Boysen.
The Glassblowing Department features a full hotglass studio and cold-working facility, as well as a stained glass studio and slumping/fusing facility.
SIU is also home to "Aunt Gladys 2" a mobile glassblowing studio invented by Bill Boysen. The mobile unit is used for demonstration and education of glassblowing. "Aunt Gladys 2" has traveled all over the country and continues to be successful in the promotion of glass art.

Glass Work:
This collection features a cross section of work created by students from Southern Illinois University. The skill level ranges from intermediate to advanced and graduate levels. This show features a variety of glassworking techniques from glassblowing and casting to slumping/fusing. Southern Illinois University offers both a Bachelor and Master degree in Fine Art under the concentration of Glass. The department continues to grow in size and popularity as does the interest and fascination of the glass in the art world.
